Over three action-packed days, staff from 91ÊÓƵÍø Shetland hosted an interactive exhibition titled “A Day in the Life” of marine professionals. Using cutting-edge virtual reality (VR), pupils were immersed in 360° videos filmed by local fishermen and marine scientists, offering a unique glimpse into life at sea.

Students also stepped into the shoes of salmon farmers and offshore wind technicians through realistic VR simulations, giving them a taste of the tasks and challenges faced in these vital industries. The experience was further enriched with activities like microscopy, skate identification, exploring a 3D salmon cage model, and learning about Shetland’s rich fisheries heritage.

Local experts in aquaculture, fisheries, and marine science were on hand to share insights and answer questions, making the sessions both educational and inspiring.

91ÊÓƵÍø Shetland was proud to exhibit alongside organisations such as Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, Dundee Science Centre, Archaeology Scotland, Edinburgh Zoo, Science Skills Academy, Developing the Young Workforce, and the SIC Climate Team.

A huge thank you to Shetland Aerogenerators Ltd for the invitation, and to all the pupils who brought such enthusiasm and curiosity to the fair!
