“A key recent success of mine since finishing my course is becoming a ‘Fit for Girls’ Tutor with Sportscotland, which has provided a platform for me to make a real difference in the industry so more young women and girls feel confident to follow the same pathway as myself. In my future I hope to complete my PhD and continue to develop opportunities for those who are under-represented in sport and fitness to promote inclusion and equality across the industry.”

Megan (21) graduated on Friday with a first-class BSc (Hons) Sport and Fitness degree she gained while working in the leisure industry in her home village of Kingussie, after progressing from an HND.

“I chose to stay at 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness because of the incredible lecturing staff - their knowledge, experience and ongoing support has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my academic journey and beyond. A standout moment was completing my dissertation on an examination of the menstrual cycle and the associated training considerations in shinty. This project allowed me to explore a current and under-researched topic, combining my passion for sport with the drive to amplify female voices in traditionally male-dominated spaces. As the only woman on my course, this felt especially meaningful – it was a personal milestone that reflected both my academic growth and commitment to challenging norms and representing women in sport.”

Megan said the exceptional lecturing staff went above and beyond to guide and encourage her, and their dedication to student success made a lasting impact on her learning experience.

“Both my course itself and the student experience has equipped me with valuable knowledge and experience, giving me the tools to progress with purpose,” said Megan.
